Game's details

The Patchwork board game gives you and your opponent a chance to try your hands at quilting...and strategy!

Believe it or not, planning ahead is an important part of creating a beautiful quilt, and that’s certainly important in this game as well, that challenges players to think through their moves as they piece their quilts together.

To start a game of Patchwork, two players lay out the patchwork pieces in a circle on the table, place a time tracker on the circle, and each start with five button tokens. Each player has their own personal game board on which they’ll assemble their beautiful quilt. If you haven’t guessed it already, you’re not just putting pieces of the quilt together. You’ll need to use and collect your buttons as currency (as well as to embellish your quilt), and you must track the amount of time it’s taking you to build your masterpiece, compared to your dueling quilter! Assembling your quilt pieces isn’t as easy as it may seem. Some pieces have unusual shapes, making it difficult to fit them neatly onto your game board among the other pieces. If you have uneven edges or open spaces in your quilt, you will lose points! Keep an eye on your opponent’s quilt as well, because you may be able to predict when they’re about to reach for that one perfectly uneven quilt piece that you need!

The Patchwork game is created for just two people, and is the perfect way to spend time with a family member or friend. The strategy element is light, yet there’s enough of a challenge here to keep you both engaged and excited about sewing your quilts! The tricky aspect of Patchwork is that in order to win, you also need to have the most buttons when you finish your quilt, yet throughout the game you’ll need to spend buttons to buy your quilt pieces. Can you buy the pieces you need, whilst saving enough buttons?

The average play duration is around 20 minutes, and the pace of the Patchwork board game is actually quite fast, leaving you wanting to play again and again. Who knows? Maybe you’ll discover you have a knack for sewing beautiful quilts!
